Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be certified to teach in New York State? Yes, you must have a currently active New York State-issued teaching certificate.

Do I have to be certified in a specific subject area? In some cases, content specialization is necessary, but in other cases any K-12 certification is sufficient.

If I am offered a full-time position, do I have to pay a fee to Eduse? No, in fact many of our teachers do receive full-time employment offers from the schools where they are placed and they accept these positions at no cost to the teacher.

Do you require a background check and fingerprinting? Eduse requires background checks and fingerprinting of all of our teaching candidates even if they’ve been vetted as part of their certification process. This separate system is necessary as we operate independently of the New York City and State departments of education. There is no cost, however, to the candidates for these checks.

Are your teachers Background checked?
Our teachers are fully vetted, finger-printed and checked against FBI and DOJ databases.

How much advanced notice do we need to order coverage?
You can order a sub at any time whether weeks before or the morning of an assignment. Same-day morning of. Live operators are available from 5AM. We maintain a large pool of teachers who can be ready for placement within 2-3 hours.

Do you have Insurance?
We carry comprehensive limited liability and workers comp insurance.

Training and ongoing professional development?
A distinguishing feature of the Eduse, Inc model is our recruitment of educators who are open to continual growth as professionals. In addition to our regular workshop offerings, we will prep teachers to conform to you school’s culture and high expectations for children, all of which will allow them to contribute immediately as members of your team.

Do you cover your own payroll?
We provide and keep track of our own employee time sheets and corresponding payroll.

What is included in the fees we pay? How are teachers paid? Who is responsible for managing the teacher employment agreement?
Teachers are employees of Eduse, Inc and we take responsibility for all mandated insurance, taxes, and background screening. Our aim is to minimize hassles experienced by school leaders, and eliminate time spent advertising position, recruiting and interviewing candidates, and maintaining tax and employment records for substitute staff. We cover all compensation, taxes, and training of teachers. The flat rate paid to Eduse, Inc are the extent of the school’s responsibility. We handle everything from there.
